South Africa triumphed over England in a closely contested match.

Breathlessness was a constant struggle as tension persisted until the final over. South Africa held their nerve in a tense battle, defeating England by 7 runs in a high-stakes T20 World Cup Super Eight match.

England needed 14 runs in the last over with Harry Brook at the crease, having scored a half-century. Brook faced the first ball from Henrich Nortje, but it didn't reach the boundary. Aiden Markram made an excellent running catch from mid-on. With Brook dismissed for 53 off 37 balls, including 7 fours, the match swung decisively in South Africa's favor.

England needed 101 runs in the last 9 overs with 6 wickets in hand. They went 26 consecutive balls without hitting a boundary. However, Liam Livingstone and Harry Brook staged an impressive comeback.

By the end of the 11th over, England required more than 11 runs per over. Brook and Livingstone formed a crucial partnership, scoring 78 runs off 42 balls, bringing England back into contention.

England needed 25 runs from the last 3 overs when Kagiso Rabada disrupted the partnership in the 18th over. Livingstone, attempting a big shot, was caught at the deep backward square leg boundary after scoring 33 runs off 17 balls, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes. Rabada conceded just 4 runs in that over.

As a result, England needed 21 runs in the last two overs. The English team placed their trust in set batter Harry Brook, who had reached his fifty off 34 balls. However, in the end, he couldn't deliver. England fell just short of victory, faltering at the final hurdle.
