Trump plans to grant permanent residency to foreign graduates

Former US President Donald Trump has moderated his stance on immigration ahead of the election, stating that if re-elected, he will grant green cards to foreign college graduates. In a recent interview on Thursday (June 20), Trump pledged to streamline the entry process for skilled individuals to the United States, ensuring that college graduates can remain in the country.

The former president expressed sorrow over the departure of graduates from Harvard, MIT, and other prestigious institutions.Trump suggested that green cards should be readily available upon graduation, including for students from junior colleges. A green card grants permanent residency and facilitates the path to US citizenship.

Under Trump's proposal, new citizenship applications are expected to rise significantly each year. This marks a shift away from his previous strict immigration policies and is likely to bolster his standing within the Republican Party.

However, the outspoken former US president remains steadfast in his stance on deporting undocumented immigrants, and he has criticized President Biden in this regard as well.
