Formula One: Verstappen Triumphs at Spanish Grand Prix, Expands Championship Lead

Red Bull's Max Verstappen celebrates on the podium following his victory at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull’s three-time world champion Max Verstappen claimed victory at the Spanish Grand Prix, beating McLaren’s pole-sitter Lando Norris to extend his lead in the world championship standings.

Lewis Hamilton secured third place at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, marking the Mercedes seven-time former champion’s first podium of the season on Sunday. While the racing has been tighter than in the past two seasons, Verstappen consistently delivers when it counts the most.

This win marks Verstappen's 61st career victory, his seventh of the season, and his fourth at the track where he first made a splash in Formula One as a teenager in 2016.

Verstappen now leads the F1 drivers’ championship with 219 points. Norris moves into second in the standings with 150 points, overtaking Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who has 148 points.
