President Emmanuel Macron of France

President Emmanuel Macron's coalition has faced a significant defeat in the first phase of the French parliamentary elections. According to the Boothferat survey, Macron's Ensemble alliance is projected to come in third, securing between 20.5 percent and 23 percent of the votes.

Marine Le Pen's radical right-wing party, the National Rally (RN), is expected to take the lead with approximately 34 percent of the votes. The New Popular Front, a coalition of left-wing parties, is likely to come second with around 29 percent of the votes. The first phase of the parliamentary elections was held on Sunday, and these results are reflected in the Boothferat survey conducted by four companies, including Ipsos. The second phase of voting is scheduled for July 7.

To secure a single majority in the French parliament, 289 seats are required. Public opinion polls and Boothferat polls show similar results. However, the final outcome of the government formation will only be known after the second phase of elections. The anti-immigration National Rally is predicted to win a single majority, according to a Boothfer poll by the polling firm Ellab. However, experts caution against drawing definitive conclusions based on the first phase of voting alone.

President Macron called for a snap election following his party's poor performance in the European Parliament elections. This has led to heightened political activity, affecting the polls. This time, voter turnout is significantly higher than in previous elections. By 5 PM local time, the polling rate had reached 60 percent. In comparison, the turnout for the parliamentary elections held two years ago was 39.42 percent. Ipsos France research director Mathieu Gallard noted that this turnout is the highest since 1986.
